G. `Later Party"means a Governmental Unit that subsequently approves this Agreement,or <br /> such other amended Agreement as required by the Board and authorized by the Original <br /> Parties, at a duly noticed meeting of its governing body and authorized and directed <br /> representatives thereof to execute the same thereby becoming a Party to the Agreement at <br /> some time after the District was created by the Original Parties. <br /> H. `Party" means a Governmental Unit, which enters into this Agreement or such other <br /> amended Agreement as required by the Board and authorized by the Original Parties. <br /> Parties means more than one Governmental Unit to this Agreemeâ–ºt. <br /> L "Fire Services"means those services provided by the District,including but not limited to <br /> the following:fire code enforcement,fire suppression,fire protection,fire prevention,fire- <br /> fighting and emergency equipment, fire records,data systems, fire-fighter and EMS <br /> training,fire investigation,fire and life safety public education,ALS/BLS ambulance,first <br /> responder rescue, hazardous materials ,rtsponse, emergency medical services (EMS), <br /> technical rescue and other fire and energency related duties and functions customarily <br /> desired of a Fire Department or as otherwise directed by the Board for the Parties within <br /> the fire services areas established herein. <br /> ARTICLE UI <br /> MEMBERSHIP <br /> Any other Governmental Unit adjacent to any of the Original Parties may become a Later <br /> Party to this Agreementbr such other amended Agreement as required by the Board and authorized <br /> by the Original Parties upon .C a ous written consent of the Parties to this Agreement and in <br /> accordance with the process provided herein below. <br /> ARTICLE IV <br /> PURPOSE <br /> The general purpose of this Agreement is to create a joint powers organization governed <br /> by a joint powers board pursuant to Minnesota Statutes,Section 471.59,which shall provide Fire <br /> Services for the Parties within the Fire Services areas established herein.Medical response services <br /> may additionally be provided but are not required under this Agreement. <br /> ARTICLE V <br /> EFFECTIVE DATE AND TERM <br /> The effective date of this Agreement(the`Effective Date") shall be the date of the first <br /> meeting of the Board, which shall be day, 20except that Fire <br /> Services by the District shall not commence until day, ,20 (the"Fire <br /> Services Commencement Date"). The period from the Effective Date( ,20_3 until <br /> the Fire Services Commencement Date( ,20 )shall serve as a transition period for <br /> the Board to,among other matters set up its organizational structure,adopt policies and procedures, <br /> determine and make employment decisions,and ensure any other appropriate administrative items <br /> are established or implemented. The above timeframe shall apply notwithstanding the dates of <br /> Joint Powers Agreement to Provide Fire Services Page 3 of 23 <br />
