OR <br />■ HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE ON THE REGIONAL ECONOMY (CONVD) <br />Logging: The region's logging heritage began in 1848 with a major log run down the Mississippi to St <br />Anthony's Falls (Minneapolis). The railroad took over as the primary conveyor in the 1870's.
