Request by Esther Fruth for Additional Off -Sale Liquor License <br />The Clerk noted that Esther Fruth of Brambleberry Farms is requesting the <br />City to consider amending the Ordinance to allow her an off -sale liquor <br />license. <br />Judy Gries, J.M. Oil, Oasis Liquor, discussed the letter that was sent to <br />Council Members in opposition of additional off sale liquor stores in <br />Pequot Lakes. <br />Esther Fruth stated that she has requested a liquor license for <br />Brambleberry Farm so that she can add a modest size wine display <br />highlighting local and regional wines. <br />Council Member Malecha recused herself from the discussion and vote. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL MOVED TO REMOVE THIS ITEM FROM <br />THE TABLE (September 4, 2007, Council motion to table). COUNCIL <br />MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5- <br />`, 0. <br />Judy Gries noted that food is not allowed to be sold in an off -sale liquor <br />establishment. Esther Fruth indicated she was not aware of that statute. <br />Esther Fruth withdrew her request for an off -sale liquor license based on <br />the fact that she could not sell food in conjunction with the off -sale license. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO TABLE ANY ACTION ON <br />THE NUMBER OF OFF -SALE LIQUOR LICENSES. COUNCIL MEMBER <br />RYAN SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. <br />11.2. Preliminary Levy and Tax Rate <br />The Clerk explained that the goal this evening is to determine what the <br />Council would like to see as a final levy number and final budget numbers <br />to be presented to the public on December 1St. She indicated that on <br />September 1St the Council approved a preliminary general fund levy of <br />$1,527,690 and on October 13th the Council reduced that levy to <br />$1,481,800. <br />The Clerk stated that on October 13th the Council requested the staff to <br />look at their budgets and provide the Council with suggestions for <br />additional cuts. She explained that staff did provide an additional $50,800 <br />in cuts. The Clerk indicated that if the Council uses these cuts, the result <br />
