EDC Minutes <br /> November 17,2020 <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br /> ----------------------------- <br /> Ms. Duus stated that both Commissioner Lubke and Commissioner Holley have <br /> both applied to reinstate their positions. <br /> 6. Citv Administrator Hirina Update <br /> Ms. Duus stated that at the October 29, 2020 Special Council meeting the <br /> council has elected to hire Richard Spiczka for the new City Administrator. Mr. <br /> Spiczka's hire date is December 1, 2020. <br /> 7. Housina Update—Mark Jurchen <br /> Mr. Jurchen stated he has worked and met with Commissioners Lelwica and <br /> Holley regarding infrastructure, contacted the Brainerd and Pequot Lakes HRAs <br /> to discuss funding and options. Mr. Jurchen will meet with the upcoming Mayor <br /> Tyler Gardener regarding the housing in Pequot Lakes. <br /> 8. Welcominca Communitv Advocacv Group Uadate—Cindv Rieck <br /> Commissioner Rieck stated the Welcoming Community Advocacy Group meets <br /> every finro months to discuss their priorities. Commissioner Rieck stated the <br /> group is working on a survey to send to students, community members and <br /> business owners; possible Peace Conference; and an art project. Chair Lindholm <br /> stated the Greater Pequot Lakes Community Foundation would be a good <br /> avenue to work with in order to send out the survey. <br /> 9. School Uadate <br /> Chair Lindholm stated that the School District has shifted to K-12 distance <br /> leaming due to COVID. The district along with the Board will be working on the <br /> Strategic Plan. The district will not hire a new Community Education Director until <br /> spring. <br /> 10. Chamber Update <br /> Ms. Wasserman stated that with the last Executive Order, the Awards of <br /> Excellence event has been postponed. Light the Night will still happen on <br /> November 30, 2020 as well as Santa's Bobbin into Town. <br /> Ms. Wasserman stated that there is a concept the Chamber is working on for <br /> assistance to businesses due to the new executive order. <br /> The Chamber building will have a newly remodeled meeting space. She stated <br /> she is working on getting technology installed and will be completed by January. <br /> Ms. Wasserman has met with Commissioner of Economic Development, Steve <br /> Gross, regarding the Executive Orders. She stated that there will be an additional <br /> $10 million in funding for businesses. <br />
