Planning and Zoning Department <br /> Year End Review <br /> Highlights for 2020: <br /> Ordinance Amendment— Patriot Development Zoning Classification. After being <br /> directed by the City Council in January, 2oi9 to draft architectural,landscaping, and <br /> zoning regulations for the Heart of the Good Life Development,the standards for the <br /> Patriot Development Zone were approved by Council in February, 2020. <br /> Ordinance Amendment—Temporary Commercial Structures. Temporary <br /> commercial structures may be allowed by Interim Use Permit,with appropriate <br /> conditions,in the Downtown Mixed Use, Commercial and Patriot Development. <br /> Ordinance Amendment— Solar Energy Systems. An Ordinance Amendment <br /> regarding definitions and solar energy systems was developed to allow small and large <br /> solar energy systems. <br /> Ordinance Amendment— Lighting. An Ordinance Amendment to allow landscape <br /> up-lighting in the Public Zoning Classification. <br /> Ordinance Amendment— Bee Keeping. An Ordinance Amendment to allow bee <br /> keeping in various zoning classifications. <br /> Evaluate Gateways into Town—The City Council directed the Planning <br /> Commission to evaluate the gateways into town, County Road ii/Main Street,and both <br /> Patriot Avenue intersections,to be made more inviting and welcoming to the City. This <br /> discussion was suspended due to the COVID-�9 pandemic. This discussion will resume <br /> when it is safe for Commission Members and the public to safely gather in group <br /> settings. <br /> Evaluate zoning standards and corridor along Patriot Avenue—The City <br /> Council directed the Planning Commission to evaluate Patriot Avenue as part of the <br /> 202o Work Plan. This discussion was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This <br /> discussion will resume when it is safe for Commission Members and the public to safely <br /> gather in group settings. <br /> 1 � Page <br />
