September 15,2018
Projet 18-412
Shovel Ready Projet Site
Pequot Iakes,Minnesota
rainfall, temperature, spring thaw and other factors not evident at the time of our investigation.
Mottled soils were not observed. Mottled soils are a historical indication of a temporarily or
seasonally saturated soil condition. Grey soils were also not observed. Grey soils are an
indication of a permanently saturated soil condition.
C. Engineering Review
Discnssion•
Based on our findings, the site appears to be very well suited for the anticipated building and site
improvements. The native, poorly graded sands(SP),poorly graded sands with silt(SP-S1Vn and
silty sands(S1Vn are excellent material for building support. They aze also excellent for pavement
support.
We assume the buildings built on these lots will be one-story,slab-on-grade,steel&amed or
maonry wall structures on standard spread footings. We assume exterior footings will be placed
at 1 to 5 fet below existing ground level and interior columns at depths of 1 to 2 feet above or
below existing grade. Malumum foundation loads could be expected to be in the range of 5 to 6
kips per linear foot for strip footings and 200 to 250 kips for column pads. Groundwater will not
have an impact on construction. The soils on this site are suitable for infiltration for stormwater
management.
D.Recommendations
The following rommendations are based on oar nnderstanding of the prnposl pro3ect. If onr
nnderstanding of the project is not accurate,or if changes are made to the project scope, please
inform ns so that our recommendat3ons can be amended,if necessary. We have incladed
recommendations regarding earthwork and constractlon tht may help in cost esdmates and aid in
dign. We should be allowed to review the proposed constrnction plans to provide farther detailed
recommendal3ons,if necessary. R'ithout the opportanty to review the 8nal constrnctiiton plans, the
recommendtions madetn this report may ao longer be valid.
5ite Grading•
We recommend the topsoil be stripped from the entire building and pazking lot areas prior to
beginning construction. The topsoil should be removed from the site or stockpiled for re-use as
landscape material.
Page 4
