i <br /> � <br /> 3 <br /> PEQUOT LAKES HOUSING NOTES SUMMARY <br /> November 19th update to Housin�Task Force: <br /> � Michelle and I would like briefly update you on the progress so far. It has been a challenge with COVID <br /> to meet with groups and individuals on the various aspects of housing. However, we are making <br /> � progress: � <br /> 1. Michelle and I updated the Economic Development Commission on the activities of our task <br /> force. They are very supportive of the efforts and the important role it plays in market and <br /> , economic development. <br /> 2. Sheila and I have met to review and identify properties that may be suitable for rehabilitation or <br /> infill in the core area of the city. Sheila has kindly spent several hours pulling the property <br /> information for the core area,redevelopment emphasis. We will use that information for our <br /> , future meetings. <br /> � 3. Michelle and I have scheduled a meeting with John Schommer and Eric Carpenter with the <br /> Brainerd HRA for Tuesday, November 24th. They will update us on current finance options for <br /> rehabilitation,etc. and the county's program. <br /> ; 4. We ha've made contact with the Pequot Lakes HRA and brought them up to date on our <br /> activities. They have also indicated they wish to be involved in the process and will be joining <br /> our meetings where possible. <br /> ` 5. Mayor elect Tyler Gardner and I met this week to review the Housing Task force results to date <br /> , and discuss future direction and activities of our group. He indicated that housing was also one <br /> of his major concerns and was supportive of our efforts. We hope to make a formal <br /> presentation to the City Council in February. <br /> Please feel free to respond to this email if you have any updates, insights,or other activities you have <br /> been involved with concerning our group. If possible,we would like to get back together again as a <br /> group for a meeting to go over what has been completed and review our goals and objectives. We'll see <br /> where we are at with COVID restrictions and may utilize Zoom,etc. if necessary. � , <br /> December 16th update to Housin�Task Force: <br /> Michelle and I wanted to update you via email to let you know what has transpired since our update of <br /> November 19th. COVID has presented us with challenges on getting our group together, however <br /> a progress continues to be made. We will be calling on many of you after the first of the year as we begin <br /> • the implementation of the planning that has been done. <br /> , � <br /> r <br /> Michelle and I met with lohn'and Eric from the Brainerd HRA on November 24th and had a very - <br /> productive meeting. Michelle summarized our discussion in the EDC HRA Meeting notes above. It <br /> center primarily on public assistance in the financing areas of rehabilitation and new construction. We <br /> � are looking forward to working with them on improving the housing stock in our city. <br /> � <br /> 9 <br />
