City Council Minutes <br />October 13, 2009 <br />Page 6 of 7 <br />-------------------- - - - - -- <br />telephone companies are sometimes provided the equipment and live air <br />time from the telephone companies. <br />Council Member Ryan suggested that the Clerk do more research based <br />on our City's needs. The Council questioned whether the timing was right <br />for considering putting the Council meetings on cable TV. Council Member <br />Ryan suggested holding the money for this purpose. <br />6. Water Control on East Butler <br />Mike Loven explained that there has been an on -going water problem on <br />property owned by Mark Sherman on East Butler Street. He noted that <br />heavy rains and melting snow and drainage from nearby properties are <br />creating the water problem. He suggested that the Council authorize the <br />expenditure of $3,500 for the construction of a low berm or long speed <br />bump along the edge of East Butler Street before the parking area, which <br />is on City -owned right -of -way. He indicated that this would correct the <br />problem. <br />MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO FIX THE WATER CONTROL ISSUE ON <br />`- EAST BUTLER THIS FALL FOR APPROXIMATELY $3,500 AS <br />SUGGESTED BY MIKE LOVEN, WITH THE FUNDS TO COME FROM <br />THE STREET DEPARTMENT CAPITAL OUTLAY BUDGET; HOWEVER, <br />IF AT THE END OF THE YEAR THERE ARE NO FUNDS REMAINING <br />IN THE CAPITAL OUTLAY STREET BUDGET, THAT THE PROJECT <br />BE FUNDED FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCY FUND. COUNCIL <br />MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5- <br />0. <br />7. Day After Thanksgiving <br />The Clerk requested the Council to allow the Clerk's office to close on <br />November 27th, the day after Thanksgiving. She stated that all employees <br />who take the day off will be required to use vacation, comp time, or a <br />personal day. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO CLOSE CLERK'S OFFICE <br />ON NOVEMBER 27 AND THAT ANY EMPLOYEE NOT WORKING ON <br />THAT DAY SHALL BE REQUIRED TO USE VACATION, COMP TIME, <br />OR A PERSONAL DAY. COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA SECONDED <br />THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. <br />`.- 8. Check Register <br />
