MINUTES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE SEPTEMBER 15, 2009 MEMBERS PRESENT: Ed Larsen, Mark Jurchen, Patrick Smith, Justin Bolz- Andolshek and Cindy Rieck. ALSO PRESENT: Sheila Haverkamp, BLADC; Mayor Adams; Dawn Bittner, Zoning Administrator; Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Erika O'Brien, HRA Director; and Ruth Ann Hanson, Chamber Call Meeting to Order Chair Larson called the meeting to order at 8:04 a.m. 2. Consider Minutes PATRICK SMITH MOVED TO APPROVE THE JULY 21 AND JULY 28, 2009, EDC MINUTES. CINDY RIECK SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4 -0. 3. Presentation by Business Owner David Kennedy 1*.1 Mr. Kennedy was not present. 4. Small Cities Development Grant Update Sheila Haverkamp, BLADC, updated the Commission on the status of this program as it relates to the Cities of Jenkins and Pequot Lakes. She explained that Elissa Rogers, BLADC and Erika O'Brien, HRA, sent out 90 letters to property owners that could benefit from the program. She indicated that two meetings were held and nine people were present. Sheila explained that at this point there is not enough interest generated to submit an application. She suggested postponing submitting an application until next year at which time there may be more interest. It was the consensus that the City and BLADC should continue to work on this program over the next several months to try and educate the public and see if more interest can be generated. Sheila informed the Commission that BLADC will be updating its website in conjunction with the DEED who will also be updating its website. BLADC will be holding a Website kick -off and will by trying to engage groups of people to define the vision of the website. Sheila updated the Commission on the 20/20 program. She explained a program in conjunction with Positively Minnesota called the Shovel -Ready Site Certification
