Fleet Safety Program <br />The Clerk noted that the City insurance agent and the LMC Insurance <br />Trust, Berkley Risk, have recommended that the City adopt a fleet policy. <br />She indicated that there is an error in the policy and that all reference to <br />volunteers should be removed. The Clerk explained that the purpose of <br />the policy is to ensure the safety of city employees and city property <br />through safe driving habits. The Clerk also explained that motor vehicle <br />records will be reviewed on an annual basis to ensure that licenses are <br />valid. <br />Mark Jurchen spoke to the Council and indicated that the policy is mainly <br />for public safety. <br />Mayor Adams suggested that "texting" be added under distracted driving. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA MOVED TO ADOPT THE FLEET <br />SAFETY PROGRAM POLICY WITH THE AMENDMENT RELATING TO <br />"TEXTING ". COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. <br />11.2. Renewal of HealthPartners Plans <br />The Clerk explained that the Health Insurance Committee met to review <br />the proposed 2010 HealthPartners plans. She explained that the new <br />plans represent a 5.75% increase in premiums. She further noted that the <br />Health Insurance Committee is recommending that the Council renew the <br />plans. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL MOVED TO RENEW THE <br />HEALTHPARTNERS PLANS FOR 2010. COUNCIL MEMBER <br />SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. <br />11.3. Calla Special Council meeting for October 13, 2009 <br />The Clerk requested the Council to call a special meeting. She distributed <br />a draft agenda of the meeting. <br />MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO CALL A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE <br />CITY COUNCIL ON OCTOBER 13, 2009, AT 6:00 P.M. COUNCIL <br />�.• MEMBER NAGEL SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. <br />
