uses? Mayor Adams stated that the Cole Memorial Building is too small and the Whalen <br />Woods building is not structurally sound for the weight of the books. No historic <br />buildings could be used. <br />A motion was made by John Derksen, seconded by Scott Pederson that the purchase of a <br />building to house the Pequot Lakes Library is consistent with the City's Comprehensive <br />Plan, based on the following Finding of Fact: <br />1. Little Pine Plaza is a viable location for the Pequot Lakes Library. <br />All members voted "aye ". Motion carried. <br />c. Comprehensive Plan Update: <br />Mr. Marohn explained the Staff Report. An all day open house is planned asking <br />attendees their opinions on specific questions. The questions were discussed and the <br />Planning Commission offered comments on the wording of the questions. The questions <br />are to entice comments from the public. <br />d. Jason Laxen — After - the -Fact Permit: <br />Bittner explained that Mr. Laxen constructed a small shed without a Land Use Permit. <br />Mr. Laxen was in attendance. He explained that he is a first time homeowner and did not <br />realize he needed a permit for something without a permanent foundation. He is planning <br />a wood floor and blocks. The value of the completed shed would be approximately <br />$700.00. He stated that he stopped construction of the shed after receiving notification <br />from the City. If he removed the shed the matter would be resolved. He could then apply <br />for a permit. <br />A motion was made by John Derksen, seconded by Bill Habein, to recommend a $50.00 <br />After - the -Fact Permit Fee, based on the following Findings of Fact: <br />1. Mr. Laxen ceased construction upon notification from City; <br />2. The structure is 96 sq. ft.; <br />3. 1 The structure could be removed easily; <br />4. Construction of the shed meets all zoning requirements; <br />5. A Land Use Permit could be obtained and shed put in place. <br />All members voted "ave ". Motion carried. <br />e. Lonesome Cottage Furniture Company — After - the -Fact Permit: <br />Bittner explained in 2007 Mr. Andersen received a Land Use Permit for an 80' X 340' <br />commercial building. That building would have met the maximum permit fee of $5,000 <br />for a commercial building. Since that time two accessory structures have been <br />constructed that were not part of any application. <br />A motion was made by Dean Williams, seconded by John Derksen, to recommend the <br />five times the original fee, based on the following Findings of Fact: <br />Minutes 4 <br />Pequot Lakes Planning Commission <br />June 18, 2009 <br />
