M WIDSETH SMITH NOLTING April 1, 2009 The Honorable Mayor and City Council City of Pequot Lakes 4368 County Road 11 Pequot Lakes, MN 56472 RE: Engineering Services Proposal West Butler Street and West Woodman Street Improvements Dear Mayor and Members of the Council: As requested, we are providing our proposal for engineering services related to improving the following two streets: West Butler Street From: 1 st Street (Hwy 371 frontage road) To: The west side of 2nd Street Existing: From reviewing existing information, the existing street has a 75 -foot wide R/W. There is curb and gutter on the north side next to the Super America. The south side, next to Lakes State Bank, has a grassed ditch that drains into a grated ditch inlet on the east side of 2nd Street. The pavement is about 40 feet wide with parallel parking on both sides. The west side of the intersection with 2nd Street is not very well defined. There is a storm sewer system under 2nd Street. Proposed: Improvements would consist of saving the curb and gutter on the north side, installing curb and.gutter on the south side, connecting into the storm sewer under 2nd Street, replacing the pavement to a width that still allows parallel parking on both sides, and better defining the west side of the intersection with 2nd Street. West Woodman Street From: 1 st Street (Hwy 371 frontage road) To: The west side of Olson St. (entrance to the School) Existing: From reviewing existing information, the existing street has a 75 -foot wide R/W narrowing to a 66 -foot wide R/W closer to the School. Neither side has curb and gutter. There are some grate inlets that extend out from and connect to the storm sewer system under 2nd Street. They are "at the end of the line" and are relatively shallow. The School has an infiltration swale on the east side of its parking lot / west side of Olson Street. There is a sidewalk along the north side of the street. The pavement is about 26 feet wide with no parking on either side.
