III. Operations and Maintenance Continued:
• Spoke to Steve Stark with the MPCA on the 19th. Explained that the reason we irrigated so much
less last summer was because of air -line problems needing repair.
• On the 20th, Mike and Lance measured the wastewater pond depths with a Transit. It showed that
the primary (north) pond was 12.4 ft and the secondary (south) pond was 12.2 ft.
• On the 23`d, Mike brought me out to the sewer ponds and shared his concerns about the pond
levels. Looking in the splitter manhole, we could see that the high level of the primary pond is
causing the influent wastewater to flow over the divider bar and go into the secondary pond.
Later that day, Kurt and Lance added onto the divider bar to help stop the influent from flowing
over.
• March 24th, Kurt and I put in some wooden wedges to help prevent the influent from flowing in
between the manhole structure and the divider bar.
• March 26th, Kurt and I added some sandbags to the splitter manhole. We're trying everything we
can to keep the influent from flowing over into the secondary pond. As soon as the ice clears out,
we will get samples from the secondary pond to check our fecal levels. If our fecal count is less
than 200, we will irrigate just as soon as we can. Our Permit allows us to irrigate up to six inches
a day, weather permitting. Mike has been keeping in touch with Herschel Blasing, from the
MPCA, on all of this.
`, Report Submitted By: Tina Nolden (Water/Wastewater Operator)
Please call me if you have any questions /comments.
218 -568 -5604 or 218- 820 -2125
1_%.
