PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT
MINUTES OF THE MARCH 4, 2009 MEETING
The monthly meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson, 29 members
were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved by a motion by
Mike Peterson, second by Oaks, motion passed.
Truck and equipment checks followed. Engine 1 is missing storz wrenches, which were
on Engine 2. The thermal camera charger that was in the pump operator's cab is now
located in the office by the radio, so it stays dry. Make sure to get the camera and
batteries before we leave for a response to a call. New tarps have been made and are
installed on top of the hose beds of both engines. Engine 2 is missing a 2 '/2 by 1 '/2 gated
wye and a rubber mallet. Tanker 1's floating portable pump engine would not start
tonight and has been repaired. The mounted pump would not start tonight. It is also
missing a 5" by 2 '/2" adapter and a 1 '/2" double male. Tanker 2 is OK. Tanker 3 needs a
top radiator hose replaced. Everything else is OK. Rescue 1 is all good. Rescue 2 is
missing a long handle hooligan bar and 2 pike poles. Grass 1 is OK. Grass 2 does run
again after the fuse problem with the headlights and light bar. The trailer brakes are not
hooked up. The ATV is OK and the trailer is a mess. The water tender check sheet is not
done.
The financial report fire fund balance is $29,116.30. We should be receiving some grant
. funds to help with training expenses in the amount of approximately $6000.00. If we get
these grants, we may do the St. Cloud driver's training class. Our checking fund balance
is $9044.01 tonight. During the month we paid $20.32 for a battery for a rechargeable
light, and $38.30 for pop. We received a reimbursement check from the relief association
for $240.00 for the Volunteer Firemens Benefit Association insurance premiums we paid
for earlier. The check we issued to Ryan Trumble for $100.00 for a memorial has still not
been cashed. Evenson motioned to approve the financial report, second by Mike
Peterson, motion passed.
The Pequot Lakes grad blast committee has sent us a request for a donation to help fund
the grad blast party. Oaks motioned we send them $100.00, second by Peterson II, motion
passed with Selter and Loven voting no.
The safety topic tonight is when using a SCBA always keep a low profile position to be
safe. If you are working in confined space, proceed through small openings very
carefully. We have purchased a new safety warning sign to help protect us during an
incident on road ways. It is being stored on Rescue 2. It features telescopic extension leg
braces with spring loaded mounting bases. This allows the sign to stand up during windy
conditions.
Tanker 2's water tank is still leaking. We need to make an appointment to get it repaired.
It will have to go back to Lyons, South Dakota to their factory. We will try to get it
repaired as soon as we can.
