Clerk's February 2009 Staff Report <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br /> ---------------------------------------- <br /> Economic Development Commission <br /> The February Economic Development Commission was canceled. <br /> Political/Miscellaneous Meet*ngs <br /> I attended several meetings during the month to listen to our legislators speak on the <br /> economy. <br /> • Governor Pawlenty—February 26, 2009 <br /> • Town Hall Meeting to give input to legislators regarding State Budget and how <br /> this is affecting our City—February 27, 2009 <br /> • Meeting with the Secretary of State to talk about election reform—February 23rd <br /> • BLADC Annual Meeting—February 5, 2009 <br /> • Webinar hosted by the League of Minnesota Cities regarding the Federal Stimulus <br /> Funds <br /> Projects <br /> Budgets -2009 <br /> • Nancy Malecha and I have been working with the departments in regard to the <br /> Council motion to cut department budgets by 5%. As of this date all departments <br /> have made the requested cuts. The Council will see these cuts at the February <br /> meeting and will be asked to accept the recommendations or make other <br /> recommended cuts. <br /> Highway 371 Task Force <br /> • A Highway 371 Task Force Subcommittee was held on February 12th to discuss <br /> how to proceed with the request for Federal Funding. <br /> • A meeting of the corridor partners (surrounding affected communities)was held <br /> on February 23rd to discuss the Federal Funding procedure. All partners will be <br /> submitting a resolution to their respective Councils/Boards indicating that they are <br /> in favor of receiving federal funds to move the project forward. <br /> Cole Memorial Building <br /> • A meeting with Cole Memorial Building Committee was held on February 12th. <br /> The Committee has finalized the guidelines for use of the Cole Memorial <br /> Building. We will have a recommendation to the Council in April. <br /> • A meeting with members of the Pequot Lakes Historical Society was held on <br /> February 23rd. This meeting was held to review the revised lease and the Cole <br /> Memorial Building use guidelines. <br />
