Old business was discussed. The password on the office main computer has been changed
to help protect all the critical information stored in it. Only authorized personnel may use
the main computer now. There is another computer if you need one for e-mail, or
whatever.
A clarification of which complex to respond to if we get a call to Pequot Pines, Janices in
the Pines. Pequot Estates or Janices Estates, was explained that anything ":estates" is by
the park and any thing "Pines" is by the high school. .
The Chief has been working on the hydrant access by the Pines Apartments by the
school. The access to the hydrant and water hook up to the apartment complex has been
not accessible due to snow plowed in front of the gate. A letter will be sent to the owner
to try to resolve this issue.
Fire school schedules are out now. There are a lot of classes available. The Chief wants to
know who is planning on what classes they want to attend. He will decide which classes
will be approved for attending.
The confined space class scheduled for our station had no instructor available and was
cancelled. Possible dates for rescheduling this class are February 16, 19, or 21. All these
dates have conflicts with personnel. The February 21 date was selected to be held. The
instructor wants only about 10 participants. The main reason for this class is to make us
aware of what equipment is needed to be ready to handle a possible situation. The class
will start at 8:00 am on Saturday, the 21".
We would like to schedule a safety walk through of the HRA properties in our city. We
have a lot of new fire fighters who have not toured these buildings and the housing
authority has a new director and a new maintenance engineer. We will wait for the
weather to improve.
We also need to do the DVD series class for safety officer training. This is a 6 hour class
and would help inform all fire fighters of the safety officer's duties and responsibilities.
The date was tabled for now.
Discussion was held on construction of office space above the training room. The
estimated cost for walls, ceilings, doors, and a stairway amount to about$2000.00. Selter
motioned to move ahead on the project. The motion was second by Peterson II.
Discussion followed concerning the degree of need for this and the condition of the
economy and budget. The idea was tabled at this time.
The Chief would like to establish some goals for this year that he can present at an
upcoming city department head meeting. The goals mentioned were to resolve the air
pack issues. Another goal is to improve the air lines in the station with an air dryer to
protect our trucks.
