No decision was made to make a donation at this time. An
application form is available for scholarships for graduating seniors this year.
The safety topic tonight is electrical issues which need to be reviewed. Always watch out
for down power lines and be aware for existing power lines when parking a vehicle or
fighting a fire. Never pull a meter from the base on a structure fire. Always park a vehicle
a power pole away from a down line to be safe. For a substation fire, do not use a hose
line and do not go inside the fence to try to fight a fire. Always use the idea of weighing
the risk when dealing with unoccupied vehicles or buildings. Watch and be aware of the
color of smoke to determine the degree of heat intensity. A safety issue from the highway
safety class a couple weeks ago was to watch out for gas struts used on almost every
vehicle now days. They can be very dangerous. A thing to remember is when starting the
Hurst pump engine on Engine 2, you have to hold the choke all the way down to make it
start.
