ISSUES WITH RETROFITTING THE CHALLENGER
TRACTOR TO ELIMINATE THE USE OF A LOADER IN
THE PEQUOT LAKES PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
• There is a welded mounting bracket/frame on the tractor's right side which would
directly interfere and not allow room for a loader mount. This bracket is integral for the
side mounted Diamond Mower attachment.
• We explored the possibility of a front mounted snow blower and it appears this tractor
doesn't have a forward PTO system which would be needed. If it is even possible to
retrofit, it would likely be quite expensive.
• If we were to add anything to this tractor to adapt it for additional uses would be to
perhaps utilize the rear 3 point hitch (ist remove rear mower deck) and PTO which
would likely allow a rear-mounted snow blower attachment. Although it would function,
the cab is set up in a way that only allows a quarter turn on the chair and you'd be
basically blowing snow in reverse while looking over your left shoulder for extended
periods. The other down side also is the side mower deck can't easily be removed
seasonally and would hinder sightlines out of the right front of the cab.
