ESTIMATED ANNUAL USES FOR A LOADER IN <br /> PEQUOT LAKES PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT <br /> (Total Hours on Current Loader Hour Meter=3938(8.22.19) =approx. 180 hrs. use per year) <br /> SNOW EVENTS: AVG ANNUAL USE: <br /> • Load plow trucks with salt/sand ^'20 hrs./yr <br /> • Move product as needed in the salt shed (mixing&moving) �25 hrs./yr <br /> • Remove and load accumulation piles out of downtown areas (Snap, Library, Cole, ist St., <br /> Joe's Pizza Lot) �25 hrs./yr <br /> • Move large piles into runoff areas when rapid meltdowns predicted ^'10 hrs./yr <br /> • Remove snow off Blvd. Downtown(windrows)and load trucks to haul offsite <br /> ^'10 hrs./yr <br /> • Scraping ice and exposing storm drains ^'10 hrs./yr <br /> • Break up ice on spots with ice on streets(Alley Mouths,etc.) ^'10 hrs./yr <br /> Non—snow uses: <br /> • Key for tree removal&storm cleanup projects *as needed(0-100 hrs.J <br /> • Roads—loading gravel for shouldering, pothole repair,etc. ^'25 hrs. <br /> • Adding/leveling new gravel to smaller roads *key on those years <br /> • Moving and loading black dirt for road edge repair&parks projects � 16 hrs. <br /> • Stump removal "'8 hrs. <br /> • Unloading trucks(w/bucket attached forks) ^'4 hrs. <br /> • Ditch drainage improvements *instrumental on these <br /> • One man currently capable of removing an emergency tree solo w/loader <br /> *not possible w/o <br /> Potential New Additional uses if a newer/better Loader Purchased(w/an additional Snow Bucket): <br /> • Speedier removal of snow from Main,N.Washington,and various lots/streets downtown <br /> • Cul-de-sac clearing to save time on big trucks <br /> • Quicker loading of trucks on snow and dirt jobs <br /> • Less time loading total (think 60 truckloads=avg downtown snow storage removal <br /> Irrelevant of hours of use,as you can imagine,a good working loader is integral to many of our operations <br /> whether it be plowing, streets, parks, or storm response. Without it, there is no snow plowing operation <br /> for instance and although our 23-year-old loader has treated us well, it's planned for replacement as it <br /> NEEDS to be of reliable age, condition, and size to support our most important of operations. <br /> ** We'd be fine with the current loader/backhoe being so/d if council authorizes purchase of new <br />
