. CITY CLERK'S OFFICE
GOALS - 2009
1. Convert from Cash Basis accounting to Accrual Basis accounting.
In 2009, the goal is to change the City's financial software from cash basis
accounting to accrual basis accounting. This will result in a more accurate
picture of the City's finances in relation to the annual audit by including
information on assets, liabilities, debt, compensated absences, and
depreciation. This will require data conversion and training for the
Finance Administrator.
2. Update the City's web site and begin a city newsletter
We would like to make as much information available to the public as
possible. The Mayor has requested that the City begin a City Newsletter. It
is our goal to accomplish this in 2009. It is also our goal to update the
City's web site to make it more user friendly.
3. Work with all Departments to come in under budget with the cuts
the City will realize from the Governor's office
The City Clerk's office will work diligently with all departments and the
Mayor and Council to come in under budget even with the revenue
shortfall that we will see from the State. We would like to avoid cutting into
the fund balance if at all possible.
4. Upgrade the City's financial software
When the City purchased the financial software, the upgrade was not quite
ready. Therefore the software company promised to upgrade all of our
software when the upgrade was available, at no charge. This will however
require two weeks of training for Nancy, Jeanyne and I.
k
