b. Discussion,Future Sale of Tax Forfeited Lands:
Mr. Marohn explained the Staff Report. Mr. Williams asked if there was a master plan
for parks and public facilities. Mr. Marohn said it does not exist in plan form, but we
have identified park land and these are not part of that. Staff advised the Planning
Commission that the Park Board has not yet been asked to make a recommendation.
Mr. Williams suggested rezoning all tax forfeit lands to open space,to keep as
undeveloped, natural areas. Staff was directed to bring back a map at an upcoming
meeting to look at tax forfeited lands for possible rezoning to open space.
A motion was made by Mark Hallan, seconded by Scott Pederson, to recommend to the
City Council that these properties be allowed to be classified as non-conservation and
offered for sale. All members voted"aye". Motion carried.
c. Comprehensive Plan Review:
Mr. Marohn explained that the City's budget is tight and we have scheduled the
Comprehensive Plan updates to coincide with our regular Planning Commission
meetings, rather than having an extra meeting per month. A Community Workshop is
planned prior to our next meeting where we will review those results.
Homework for next month will be to review the Housing Section and answer the four
questions listed in the Staff Report.
The Community Workshop results will be discussed at our next meeting.
Staff will contact WSN for new water/wastewater maps.
Lake Associations should be notified. Mr. Marohn requested volunteers to help with the
Community Workshop.
d. Set Meeting Date for December,2009:
Third Thursday, don't change it.
e. End of the Year Report:
Page 16,training schedule, if there is something of interest you would like to attend; they
are free or can do a webcast.
Page 17, recommended work plan, outline of items we will be working on over the year.
OLD BUSINESS: None.
MINUTES 8
Pequot Lakes Planning Commission
January 15, 2009
