The safety topic tonight recommends we use pump compartment heaters on the pump
trucks being the cold weather season is here. Make sure all drain valves are closed before
leaving the hall and open the drain valves immediately after use at a scene. Make sure
someone checks all the air packs that were used so they are ready for the next call. If you
experience a hazardous situation at a call, holler"MAYDAY" and give the message. All
radio communications after a mayday situation shall be for emergency only. Also for any
fire call involving any type of fire on a roof, make sure to wear air packs.
We have a new radio in Engine 2.there are also two new hand held units at the Breezy
station.
We have had a hard time filling composite air tanks lately. We had the compressor
service company here and repairs were made.
Engine 1 gas monitor doesn't work again. This unit has been a problem since it was new.
Evenson motioned to trade it off and get another one like we have for Engine 2. The
motion was second by Hayes, motion passed.
The Tiedeman house fire was discussed. This was the first extensive structure fire we
have had in a long time. There were a few things that did not go well but overall we made
a good stop considering the fire had progressed beyond the room it started in before we
arrived on the scene. There was a lot of talk about how our fire fighters should always act
professionally at a scene due to the fact that there are always people watching our every
move. We had a problem with engine 1 drafting from the rear 6 inch intake. At first we
thought there was an air leak at the coupling of the 6 inch flexible suction hose. More
investigation into the problem seemed to prove the air operated intake valve was not
opening properly. There was air leaking from the control switches which open these
intake valves. A decision was made to try using an air line lubricant in the Pete's air
system to lubricate air seals and diaphragms which make the actual valves open. John
will get a spray can of this lubricant and inject it in the lines.
There will be a fire fighters Xmas party on Friday, December 12, starting after 5:00 pm at
a condo on Deacon's golf course. The condo is rented for the party and will cost about
$150.00. A potluck dinner is planned. Bring your own refreshments. There will be rides
home for any one needing that service. A map to the site was handed out. If you have any
questions, contact Tasha.
We have discussed refurbishing Rescue 1 as a lot of changes in what the van is used for
have taken place over the years. If you have any ideas to share, the topic will be planned
in January.
Loven motioned to adjourn the meeting and proceed into elections. The motion was
second by Cerise, motion passed.
The Chief asked the all the new fire fighters to conduct the election being Patrick is out
of town. Tom Nelson and Neil Casanova were nominated for Chief. Neil was not present
