PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT
MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 3,2008 MEETING
The monthly meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson, 31 members
were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved by a motion by
Evenson, second by Larson, motion passed.
Truck and equipment checks were discussed. Engine 1 was good. Engine 2 was also
good. Chief Nelson reminded us to make sure to drain the deck gun when used during
cold weather. To lower the nozzle all the way down, one has to crank the nozzle down till
it hits the stop, lift slightly to relieve the weight of the nozzle, pull the spring pin to
release the stop, and then continue to lower the nozzle all the way down so it drains. The
water tender truck check sheet needs to be redone. Make a note to check for the fuel card
on each vehicle on each vehicle's check sheet. The card is only good for fuel, oil, and
washer fluids. Tanker 1 was good. Tanker 2 was missing a high-vol spanner and a 4" by
21/2" storz adapter. Tanker 3 was OK Grass 1 was OK and the water tank is now drained
for winter. Grass 2 is OK. The flash lights on engine 2 are not charging for some reason.
New lights are ordered. We may have to get a new plug in strip also. The four wheeler
would not start tonight. Rescue 1 and 2 were both good. The tank on tanker 2 has a slight
leak.
The financial report for our checking account balance tonight is $9732.56. During the
month we paid $42.00 for a roll of stamps, $54.29 for pop, and $31.95 for the Schaefer's
bill. The scholarship fund balance is $1800.65. The relief association special fund owes
$240.00 to our general fund for volunteer fire fighters insurance premiums that were
paid. The fire fund balance is $27898.00 tonight after all bills are paid. Jenkins City paid
their fire contract and the City of Pequot Lakes still owes their share so the fund will be
increasing after the payment. Larson motioned to approve the financial report, second by
Mike Peterson, motion passed.
Grass 1 has a factory recall for a crankshaft sensor which could cause trouble. The
windshield also has a crack and needs to be fixed. Evenson will take care of the recall
repair and the windshield.
We received a thank you note from the Cub scouts for a fire truck showing at Eagle View
School. Tom, Brian, and Dean participated in this event. We also received a thank you
for the Ryan Trumble donation. The fund raiser for the Trumble family totaled about
$22,000. A letter from Madison Lake fire department was asking for donations for a fire
fighter's wife who suffered an aneurism. No action was taken. The benefit for the
Garrison fire fighter who passed away will be this Saturday at the Blue Goose. The event
will be a pig roast and a texas holdem tournament.
A name, address, and phone number check sheet was passed around. If you have a
change or an addition, please write it in tonight.
