CITY GRANT PROGRAM <br /> CROW WING COUNTY RECYCLING AGREEMENT <br /> PARTIES <br /> This Agreement is made between Crow Wing County(County), and the City of Pequot Lakes(City). <br /> PURPOSE <br /> The purpose of this Agreement is to develop and promote environmentally sound methods of managing solid <br /> waste,promote recycling and provide a cost efficient recycling opportunity for City residents. <br /> GRANT <br /> To assist the City, the County will award funds for the City's solid waste program under the following <br /> conditions: <br /> Application <br /> a) By July 15`the City will provide information regarding the amount of funds they anticipate <br /> needing for the following year on forms provided by the County. <br /> b) Starting in January,the City will send to the County a written request for grant funding. If the <br /> amount of this request is different from the previously anticipated amount, the City must <br /> explain the difference. <br /> Use of Funds <br /> a) The City hereby agrees to carry out this program and to use the grant funds only for the <br /> designated purposes described in Minnesota State Statute 115A.552. <br /> b) Grant monies shall be spent to provide opportunities to recycle as described in Minnesota <br /> State Statutes 115A.557 Subdivision 1, 2, 3 &4. Monies may also be used for recycling <br /> costs, development and distribution of educational materials and disposal of problem <br /> materials collected at special cleanup days including white goods and tires. The Crow Wing <br /> County Waste Management Department(CWCWMD)must be notified and the City must <br /> obtain its consent to any substantial deviations from said grant agreement. <br /> C) The City hereby agrees not to use the funds for any purpose prohibited by law, and to <br /> immediately notify the CWCWMD of any lawsuit or any proceedings before any federal,state <br /> or local administrative agency,which may be initiated against it. <br /> d) The City hereby agrees to repay the CWCWMD any portion of the grant that is not used for <br /> the purposes specified herein or in the grant proposal. <br /> Services Provided by City <br /> a) The City agrees to maintain a public information and education program for the purpose of <br /> encouraging residents to participate in separation of recyclable items from their refuse and to <br /> place these items out for recyclable collection. <br />
