Pequot Tffxace
PIA Sox 385
AGsswa, MN 56468
November 9, 2010
Pequot Lakes City Council
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472
RE: Sewage Charge for 31303 County Road 112, Pequot Lakes
Dear Council Members:
The purpose of this letter is to request that the sewer fee not to be charged for the water
lost into the ground at Pequot Terrace in October 2010 due to a underground waterline break.
The gallons not discharged to the sewer has been calculated by the City Water Department.
For undetermined reasons a particular section of waterline has been rupturing in
numerous places. The current leakage was first noticed by frequent meter readings but it was
very difficult to find as the leaking water did not surface to ground level.
Tina Nolden was very helpful in calling the Rural Water Association, who dispatched a
technician, and with his listening device he was able to give us a tentative location of the leaks.
Test holes were dug and eventually the leaks were located and repaired. After the leaks were
repaired and reading the meter the water flow indicated another rupture. Nevertheless, a decision
was made to replace 300 feet of waterline with a new waterline. The cost of repairing the old
waterline was over $9,000.00. Hopefully, by replacing the waterline in question we have
eliminated any further leaks at this time in that area.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter of the reduction of the sewage charge in
question.
Sincerely,
Earl Hemmerich - Owner
Pequot Terrace
X1.1 EH/mas
