Municipal Consent Public Hearing Written Comments
November 16, 2010, Addendum to Council Minutes
Page 2 of 33
------------------------------------------------------------ - - - - --
6. Lydia M. Loven — 28455 Hurtig Road, Pequot Lakes, MN
There is no question what Pequot Lakes should do — that is the by -pass. I have
talked to many visitors in our area. They ask what will happen to Pequot Lakes if
you don't have the by -pass. I tell them we will not have our parks, traffic will be
out of control. Our town is now divided and will be divided more. I also feel the
safety for our students if the highway was in town. So 1p ease, sto and think of
what our town would be if the route was in town. We will slowly disappear, no
one will come or shop here. Thank you.
7. Karen Boller — 27465 County Road 107, Pequot Lakes, MN
I want to approve my consent of the 371 Bypass. For the safety of my children, I
believe this is the best option.
8. Gary Bren!lold — 30455 Peauot Boulevard, Pequot Lakes, MN
We have had a lake home in Pequot Lakes for about 20 years. We have come to
enjoy the community and the people. I believe the city is a destination, not a
community where through traffic stops for anything other than gasoline. That fact
combined with the obvious traffic dangers and overwhelming cost of a through
City 371 makes the bypass the only solution.
9. Pat Breneeold — 30455 Pequot Boulevard, Pequot Lakes, MN
We have had a cabin on Sibley Lake for about 20 years. I have enjoyed being able
to walk to the shops and restaurants. I strongly feel Pequot Lakes is a destination.
Having a four lane highway through the middle of the town would be dangerous
and costly mistake. The bypass is the correct solution.
10. Tommv Woo! — 26022 Wooddale Rd., Nisswa — PO Box 383 Pequot Lakes
Municipal consent is the final and long awaited step in the Highway 371
expansion project. This project has been studied extensively and the results show
the alternate alignment (bypass) is the best solution for the City of Pequot Lakes
including its businesses and residents. I urge you to vote in favor of this and give
consent so that the City can move forward, putting this divisive issue behind us
for the good of the community.
11. Pastor Dianne Ciesluk — Grace United Methodist Ch, 29286 Hwy 371, Pequot
..N
Lakes, MN
At the most recent meeting of the Grace United Methodist Church's
Administrative Council, the expansion of Highway 371 was discussed in detail.
Based on that discussion, the Administrative Council unanimously agreed that it
supports the Around Town route (the same route the City Council and MNDOT
have consistently stated they support) for the highway expansion. The reasons for
this decision are: --
