Highway 371 Municipal Consent — November 16, 2010
WRITTEN COMMENTS
THESE COMMENTS ARE AN ADDENDUM TO THE NOVEMBER 16, 2010,
CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
1. Diane Eitrheim — 28210 St. Highway 371, Pequot Lakes, MN
It is our hope the Highway 371 will go around Pequot Lakes because it would
destroy the beautiful park and downtown of Pequot Lakes. The businesses will be
alright. We live here year -round and enjoy shopping and the activities that happen
in Pequot Lakes in the park. Please vote for around town and get this controversy
settled.
2. Jim Eitrheim — 28210 Highway 371, Pequot Lakes, MN
The future will bring great success to Pequot Lakes, MN. As the years pass by
everyone will value the green space that is now being preserved. Time will bring
new buildings and new business places. People will flock to the place because it is
handy and accessible and the over - powering smell of exhaust will not be present.
Let the Highway 371 go around town.
3. Betsy Scott — 27931 County Road 107, Pequot Lakes, MN
I am very much in favor of Highway 371 by -pass around the City of Pequot
Lakes.
4. Kay Triden — 27931 County Road 107, Pequot Lakes, MN
I support the "around town" highway plan. This summer the traffic on 371 was so
heavy that I had to carefully plan my trip to the new SuperValu. It was impossible
to turn left out of their parking lot. Also, the events in the park would be greatly
affected by a 4 -lane highway in town. Who wants to listen to music with a 4 -lane
highway next to it ... or would there even be room for the park?
5. Nate Schulina — 27931 Highway 107, Pequot Lakes, MN ? ? ?? (Name)
As a frequent visitor to the Pequot Lakes area, especially on weekends, I feel
there would be less traffic to contend with if the by -pass were built. Although the
shopping opportunities are wonderful, SuperValu, Dairy Queen, etc., it is
sometimes very difficult to access them because of the 2 -lane traffic. Also,
although the Paul Bunyan bike trail is a wonderful way to enjoy nature in the area,
more traffic can make it more dangerous. In addition, the new band shell has
really improved the attribute to hear the music. Adding more lanes and increasing
the speed limit could result in more accidents and injuries. Finally, I work in the
Twin Cities during the week and look forward to my time spent in the Pequot
Lakes area. Since I travel 2 days a week in the metro area, going north on the
weekends is a treat, especially if there is less congestion.
