City Council Minutes <br />September 7, 2010 <br />Page 8of13 <br />%-.1 ------------------------- - - - - -- <br />COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA MOVED TO APPROVE THE <br />TEMPORARY AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PEQUOT <br />LAKES AND TEAMSTERS LOCAL UNION NO. 346 RECOGNIZING <br />THAT KATE PETERSEN WILL BE APPOINTED AS THE ACTING <br />CHIEF OF POLICE AND DURING THAT TIME SHALL BE ON LEAVE <br />OF ABSENCE FROM THE UNION. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. <br />8.3. 2010 -2011 Police /School Liaison Contract <br />The Clerk noted that the Police School Liaison Contract runs from July 1, <br />2010 through June 30, 2011. The City Council approved this agreement <br />on April 6, 2010 with a contract amount of 28,324.92 per year. She noted <br />that this agreement has yet to be approved by the School Board. The <br />Clerk informed the Council that the School has requested the Council to <br />consider amending the agreement to reflect the same price as the 2009- <br />2010 contract which was $27,500. The Clerk distributed a handout <br />prepared by Nancy Malecha which reflects the actual wage of an officer <br />with benefits and without benefits. <br />`.. Kate Petersen stated that the school is requesting a zero increase <br />because the money they receive from a grant for this program has been <br />frozen. <br />After reviewing the information reflecting the wage of an officer, Mayor <br />Adams suggested balancing the cost by reducing the number of hours an <br />officer spends at the school. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO KEEP THE CONTRACT AT <br />$27,500 FOR THE 2010 -2011 YEAR AT 30 HOURS PER WEEK WHICH <br />WOULD COVER WAGES AND BENEFITS FOR THE POLICE OFFICER. <br />MAYOR ADAMS SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. <br />9. Public Works <br />Report accepted by Council. <br />9.1. Revoke Breezy Point Road Agreement <br />Mike Loven noted that the recent detachment of property in Breezy Point <br />affects the existing Nelson Road Agreement between the City of Pequot <br />Lakes and Breezy Point. Because this road is no longer in Breezy Point, <br />there is no longer a need for the road agreement. <br />
