City Council Minutes September 7, 2010 Page 8of13 %-.1 ------------------------- - - - - -- COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA MOVED TO APPROVE THE TEMPORARY AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES AND TEAMSTERS LOCAL UNION NO. 346 RECOGNIZING THAT KATE PETERSEN WILL BE APPOINTED AS THE ACTING CHIEF OF POLICE AND DURING THAT TIME SHALL BE ON LEAVE OF ABSENCE FROM THE UNION. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. 8.3. 2010 -2011 Police /School Liaison Contract The Clerk noted that the Police School Liaison Contract runs from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. The City Council approved this agreement on April 6, 2010 with a contract amount of 28,324.92 per year. She noted that this agreement has yet to be approved by the School Board. The Clerk informed the Council that the School has requested the Council to consider amending the agreement to reflect the same price as the 2009- 2010 contract which was $27,500. The Clerk distributed a handout prepared by Nancy Malecha which reflects the actual wage of an officer with benefits and without benefits. `.. Kate Petersen stated that the school is requesting a zero increase because the money they receive from a grant for this program has been frozen. After reviewing the information reflecting the wage of an officer, Mayor Adams suggested balancing the cost by reducing the number of hours an officer spends at the school. COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO KEEP THE CONTRACT AT $27,500 FOR THE 2010 -2011 YEAR AT 30 HOURS PER WEEK WHICH WOULD COVER WAGES AND BENEFITS FOR THE POLICE OFFICER. MAYOR ADAMS SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. 9. Public Works Report accepted by Council. 9.1. Revoke Breezy Point Road Agreement Mike Loven noted that the recent detachment of property in Breezy Point affects the existing Nelson Road Agreement between the City of Pequot Lakes and Breezy Point. Because this road is no longer in Breezy Point, there is no longer a need for the road agreement.
