The present roadway is aggregate surfaced and varies in width from about 22 feet to about 24
feet (depending on where one measures and what is defined as the "edge" of the gravel).
This segment of North Sluetter Road has relatively good ditching and clearing on either side,
which should help in extending the life of the roadbed and surfacing. The clearing varies in
width, but is generally about 10 feet to 15 feet from the edge of the gravel. The ditching varies in
depths, but does appear to provide for runoff and snow storage.
( There is basically one relatively large sag, or low point, towards the south end of the northern
parcel. There does not appear to be indications on the surface of any drainage problems.
While soil borings were not part of the scope of this study, it appears from field observation of
the existing roadway that the roadbed materials are appropriate for roadway construction.
We did not do any field measurements of existing Class 5 aggregate base / surfacing. Just from
a visual observation, there does not appear to be any obvious problems possibly caused by a
lack of aggregate thickness.
I11
f-
No public water distribution or sanitary sewer collection systems are in place within the study
area; homes are served by individual water wells and septic systems. This area is not slated for
such public improvements.
Pequot Lakes — North Sluetter Road Improvements Study
WSN No. 0130130045.000 Page 4
