� Mission Statement of the Park Commission To enrich the quality of community life and promote activities for families and people of all ages and abilities,while protecting open space and natural resources for current and future generations;to be Snancially responsible;and be a liaison between the community and city government. The Objective of the Parks and Open Sprace Master Plan To ensure existing park and recreational opportunities meet the needs of Pequot Lakes' residents today and in the future,the Commission has developed this Master Plan. The purpose of the Plan is ta create a firamework to ensure the community secures sufficient and appropriate land for: • Pazk development with a high quality of recreational opportunities • Open space and trails that meet the needs af all age groups and facets af the community • The continued development of existing park areas with amenities that are needed and desired by the residents and visitors who use them � This Master Plan refines and implements the general direction established in the draft Pequot La.kes Comprehensive Plan,2011 (EXF-IIAIT A). It is intended to become a stand-alone element that will guide park and recreation development over the next 10 to 15 years. As the City grows,it is the desire of the current Commission that the budget reflects this growth,so subsequent Commissions are enabled to fulfill the � recommendations of bath the Master Park Plan and the Pequot Lakes Comprehensive '� Plan. �I Natural Resources: I� • Protect and enhance natura.l resources and open space contributing to the character and vitality of Pequot Lakes.
