City Council Minutes <br />October 5, 2010 <br />Page 7 of 12 <br />-------------------- - - - - -- <br />COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL MOVED TO APPROVE THE HEALTH <br />INSURANCE COMMITTEE'S RECOMMENDATION REGARDING THE <br />CASH -IN -LIEU OF OPTION TO HEALTH INSURANCE EFFECTIVE <br />OCTOBER 5, 2010, AS FOLLOWS: <br />• THE CASH -IN -LIEU OPTION IS GRANDFATHERED IN FOR <br />EMPLOYEES CURRENTLY ON THIS OPTION. <br />• ONCE A GRANDFATHERED EMPLOYEE CHOOSES TO JOIN THE <br />CITY'S GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN, CASH -IN -LIEU IS NO <br />LONGER AN OPTION. <br />• EMPLOYEES CURRENTLY ON THE CITY'S GROUP HEALTH <br />INSURANCE PLAN WILL NOT HAVE THE CASH -IN- LIEU -OF <br />OPTION. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br />CARRIED 5 -0. <br />6. Planning and Zoning Report <br />Report received by Council. <br />7. Fire Chief Report <br />Report received by Council. <br />7.1. Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant Award <br />Fire Chief Tom Nelson stated that the Fire Department has received a <br />matching grant from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources in <br />the amount of $1,500. He explained that the grant will be used to <br />purchase personal protective equipment. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE EXECUTION <br />OF THE GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT <br />OF NATURAL RESOURCES. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. <br />7.2. Request to Purchase Air Packs <br />The Fire Chief requested to purchase air packs and air bottles in the <br />amount of $19,388.85. Tom reviewed the proposal and indicated that they <br />did receive two bids. <br />
