The Department completed our annuai fire prevention program by starting with a visit to Eagie <br /> View elementary students,kindergarten thru second grade.Each student was presented with a fire <br /> safety package which included a fire safety coloring book,crayons, pencil,&stickers.Ten fire <br /> fighters and one Explorer member presented fire prevention training to 15 difFerent class rooms. <br /> Our annual fire prevention open house was held October 10�'from 4 to 7 pm.The fire safety house <br /> and fire dog bouncy house were the main attractions. Fire truck rides and a live propane burn <br /> demonstration were also provided.Refreshments included hot dogs,chips,cookies,popcorn,and a <br /> drink.A fire safety packet was given to all kids that consisted of a fire safety book,pencils,crayons, <br /> stickers,wrist band,smoke detector batteries,and a fire helmet.About 200 people braved the cold <br /> and rainy weather to attend. <br /> Our new 2019 grass truck amved in mid-September.Emergency lights and a siren have been <br /> instaHed.Decals will be applied soon. Plans call for using the pump/tank skid unit from our old <br /> truck.Financing the project was completed using$30,000.00 from the fire fund and the balance <br /> from donations.Total cost will be about 44,OOQ.OU.This is Pequot Lakes Fire Department's first ever <br /> new grass truck. <br /> Pequot Lakes Cit�s new maintenance buiiding's const�uction wili be completed soon.Our <br /> Department will take over 2 garage stalis on the north end of our current building and will allow <br /> Pequot Police Department to use our garage stall on the south end. <br /> Our 2019 fire budget caiis for a 4�o increase ne�year.Costs are continuing to increase for anything <br /> "fire departmenr'designated. <br /> The newly painted Pequot Lakes water tower has been filled and the City water supply is back in <br /> service with no issues during the project. <br /> The Department has experienced no issues this year with drive ways not being passable.Fire Board <br /> members were reminded to inform their�esidents drive way clearances need to be 14 feet wide by <br /> 12 feet high. <br /> There are 9 vehicles in our current fleet and average age is 20 years. <br /> Our next board meeting will be lanuary 20,2019 at the Pequot Lakes fire station at 7:00 pm.This <br /> will be our annual meeting. <br /> Meeting adjoumed at 7:40 pm. <br /> PRESENT AT MEETING:Benson,Adams,Dubay,Sodd,Lillehei,Wussow,Nelson,Peterson,and <br /> Bartels <br />
