PEQUOT LAKES AREA FlRE BOARD <br /> MEETING MINUTES OCT08ER 24,2018 <br /> The third quarter meeting of the PLAFB was called to order by Chairman Peterson.Members were <br /> welcomed to the meeting.The minutes of the last meeting were not read due to a motion by <br /> Adams,second by Benson,motion passed. <br /> The third quarter fire call report was discussed.There were 20 calls during the quarter and a total of <br /> 56 for 2018 at this time.The break-down of types of calls lists 7 as alarms,detectors,or system <br /> orientated initiated,3 mutual aid structure fires,2 structure fires in our contracted area,2 outside <br /> fires,2 gas line cuts,2 persons in distress,and 2 motor vehicle accident agency assist calls. By <br /> location,there were 9 to Pequot Lakes,3 to City of Jenkins,3 to Ideal Township,2 to Jenkins <br /> Township,l to City af Breery Point, l to Pelican Township,and 1 to Poplar Township. Two fire bills <br /> were sent that total$1200.00. <br /> The training report totaled 11 hours. By types,5 hours ropes with confined spaces,3 hours engine <br /> company tactics,and 3 hours airplane fire and rescue. <br /> The financial report for the third quarter was reviewed.The revenue side of the report is we are at <br /> 117%of our budgeted amount at this time.Expenditures are af 69�of the annual total which is <br /> good.Adams motioned to approve the report,second by Lillehei,motion passed. <br /> The personal report began with our DNR matching fund grant application for 2018 being denied. <br /> Jessica Jacobson resigned from the Department with 9 years of sQrvice due to moving out of our <br /> area.The Department provided a fire truck&personnel to Pequot Lakes&Breery Point for their <br /> national night out event.A safety walk thru inspection was done at Lonesome Cottage Fumiture <br /> Factory in Pequot Lakes.leremie Bridge retired from the Department with 20 years of service.We <br /> recognized Tim Crist for his 21 years of senrice by presenting him with his helmet on September 5"' <br /> after his recovery from an extensive medical issue.Three new ponable radios were purchased for <br /> our 3 fire chiefs using a$10,000.00 donation from a Fargo based corporation.A new rescue saw <br /> was purchased to equip our Breery Point Station along with a new bullet nosed roof saw being <br /> ordered also.Back-up cameras were instalied on Tanker 1 and Utility 1 trucks. Brad McGuire was <br /> hired as a new fire fighter.Bill Rickard and Trevor Lang helped Nisswa fire with a live house burn. <br /> The Department received a$3000.00 grant from Compeer Financial(formerly Ag-Star)to be used <br /> for needed rescue equipment. <br /> Our 2018 AFG grant application was denied due to the fact our fleet of vehicles is too new.Chief <br /> Nelson is consulting with officials to get some pointers for future grant applications. <br /> Our annual task of testing all our fire hose has been contracted out to FireCatt Company at a cost of <br /> $4060.00 per year for a three year contract.This testing usually took us two to three meetings to <br /> complete the task. <br /> Our second annual street dance fund raiser with our partnership with Pequot Community Action <br /> took place August 4`".Attendance was down alo�g with was refreshment sales.The weather was <br /> questionable early but tumed out good. No decision has been made at this time about future <br /> dances. <br />
