Zoning Map — Review Edits <br /> Planning Commission Member Leckband stated that the sign ordinance language <br /> recently adopted is in conflict with the sign ordinance and wondered if this should be <br /> added to this Agenda. Staff asked him to provide the language in conflict and this <br /> matter will be included on the July Planning Commission Agenda. <br /> Chair Hallan added to the Wilderness Resort Review Committee discussion of SSTS <br /> System and MPCA. <br /> OPEN FORiJM: None. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Wilderness Resort Review Committee <br /> Planning Commission Member Leckband volunteered to fill the vacancy on the Review <br /> Committee. <br /> Chair Hallan stated Mr. Steffens had contacted him and wanted to schedule a meeting <br /> with his engineer, Greg Halling. Chair Hallan informed Mr. Steffens that they currently <br /> have a MPDS Permit through the MPCA. Mr. Steffens stated they don't have complete <br /> documents and the MPCA isn't aware of what has been going on at Wilderness Resort. <br /> Chair Hallan told Greg Halling that neither he nor the Planning Commission would <br /> meet with them without the MPCA being present. Chair Hallan responded via email to <br /> Mr. Halling to document the conversation. <br /> Short-term Rental Ordinance — 1?iscussion <br /> Mr. Burslie pointed out our current Ordinance states "Unless specifically allowed, no <br /> more than four leases per year,per dwelling are allowed." This item was requested to <br /> be placed on the agenda to discuss whether or not to include more enforceable language <br /> or adopt some type of ordinance that would regulate the use of short-term rental <br /> properties. Staff had sent out a White Paper prepared by the City of Burnsville that <br /> contains both pros and cons for enforcement. <br /> He further stated short-term rental, rental of properties for one to several nights, can <br /> disturb the character of neighborhoods,which is not the intent of residential <br /> neighborhoods. Duluth does allow them through an Interim Use Permit.
