AGENDA ITEM #9.2.A
city of
Pequot
Lakes=---
REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL
Report Prepared by: Nancy Malecha
Date: September 4, 2018
Subiect: Request to Begin Hiring Process —Job Description Revision
Report: The Personnel Committee is recommending the Council approve the
following for the Public Works Supervisor position.
• Change the job title from Public Works Supervisor to Public Works
Director.
• Revise the job description as noted on the attached in red or as
strikethroughs.
• Change this position from a non-exempt (hourly paid) position to an exempt
(salary paid) position in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act
Exempt Status. According to the City's current pay structure, the salary
range will be from $51,401 (step 1) to $67,444 (step 12). Also, this
proposed salary range includes 150 overtime hours in the computation as the
City's precedence has been to include some overtime hours into the salary
calculation for exempt employees.
Council Action Requested: Council motion approving the revised job description
for the Public Works Director position, the change from a non-exempt position to
an exempt position in accordance with the FLSA, and the salary range as
presented.
