Introduction Section —
Chair Hallan stated"Brief'should be removed.
Bittner asked the Planning Commission Members to review the Background sections in
the current Comp Plan on the City's website to be sure all of the information they
wanted contained in the History is included.
Community Character Section—
Chair Hallan asked what the purpose of the highlighted paragraph was. Bittner stated
she had been asked if it was still relevant.
Chair Hallan stated"As the community continues its plans for the park area, the goal is
to have the park function as a central square"to replace the second sentence.
Planning Commission Member Leckband stated since this is a community gather place,
change it to say"To provide more benefit to the community", and strike the entire part
about Government Drive to be reconfigured and focus more on the park itsel£ Remove
the language about the specific roads.
It was agreed to strike the iast two sentences and eni the first sentence after"area".
Bittner stated she would like to remove"above"from the Action Items to Support
Policies.
The consnsus was to leave in the Action Item referring to local artists.
Recreation and Natural Resources Section—
Planning Commission Member Birch wondered if we should add language to investigate
the possibility of getting Pequot Lakes the designation as a Green Step City in the
Natural Resources section. There was also previous discussion regarding a Bird City
designation.
Bittner provided Chair Halan a copy of a newspaper article regarding the fire tower
property. Mr. Burslie stated the sentence regarding the fire tower should be expanded
to include this new information.
Bittner pointed out the three Action Items that are highlighted. These comments came
from the Thriving Community Initiative but these brief phrases were all that they gave
us and these need to be eanded if we are going to keep them in the Plan. Discussion
ensued regarding trail connectivity to parks, schools, etc.
MINVTES 2
Pequot Lakes Planning Commission
August i6, 2oi8
