AGENDA ITEM #9.2
cy of
Pequot
Lakes =
REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL
Report Prepared by: Nancy Malecha & Mike Loven
Date: August 7, 2018
Subject: Painting of White Water Tower
Report: Recently, the City received several suggestions on painting the City's
white water tower to resemble a bobber similar to our existing bobber water tower.
Because the white water tower is more visible from Highway 371, the suggestions
for doing so were to create better visibility for the Pequot Lakes "bobber"
community. The City recently received quotes from Central Tank Coatings Inc.
(CTC) and KLM Engineering Inc. for this work. The following table and
attachments are the results of these quotes.
Central Tank Coatin s KLM En ineerin
Power wash onl $10,000 $5,000
Power wash & aint white $42,000 $51,778
Power wash & paint bobber
with no tube at the to $52,300 $61,871
Power wash, paint bobber, &
install tube at the to $62,200 $73,571
The City's white water tower was scheduled for power washing this year; however,
a repainting of this tower was not expected for five years. We are recommending
that the City proceed with the quote from KLM Engineering in the amount of
$61,871 for power washing and painting to resemble a red and white bobber with
no tube at the top to be funded as follows.
• $51,778 from the Water Fund
• $3,500 from the General Fund — Economic Development department
• $6,593 from the Bobber Water Tower Fund
