City Council Minutes June 5, 2018 Page5of12 ----------------------------- Dawn Bittner explained the Planning Commission is recommending to rezone 2 tracts of 58.2 acres based on the 14 findings of fact. COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA MOVED TO APPROVE ORDINANCE 18-07 AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP REZONING PARCEL NUMBERS 290232100000009 AND 290232400000009 FROM PUBLIC TO LIGHT INDUSTRIAL. COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON ABSTAINED. COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE SUMMARY PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE 18-07. COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. 6.6. Ordinance Amendment Establishin� an Offsite Sic�n Overlav District Dawn Bittner stated the Council had directed the Planning Commission to amend the sign ordinance to allow a minimum of finro double sided billboard signs to be placed on City property along State Highway 371. Ms. Bittner explained the City Attomey recommended establishing an Offsite Sign Overlay District. � COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA MOVED TO APPROVE ORDINANCE I 18-07 AMENDING SECTION 17-6.9 ESTABLISHING AN OFFSITE SIGN �, OVERLAY DISTRICT. COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED � THE MOTION. 'I Council discussion ensued regarding where the signs will be allowed and how far apart they can be in the overlay district. Justin Burslie explained that anyone along the Highway 371 comdor can �i apply to include their property in the overlay district but the offsite signs '� are only allowed in light industrial and commercial areas per MnDOT ', regulations.
