Administration <br /> The following items were received by Council. <br /> • May 10, 2018 draft Park Commission minutes <br /> • May 15, 2018 draft EDC minutes <br /> • May 15, 2018 HRA minutes <br /> 10.1 Ordinance Amendment— Liquor Licensinq <br /> Nancy Malecha presented the proposed amendment to the liquor <br /> ordinance which includes language on brew pubs, brewers, taprooms, <br /> growlers, and microdistilleries. Ms. Malecha added there was also a <br /> revision to increase the number of allowable off sale liquor licenses in the <br /> City from 2 to 4 and to change the license requirements next to churches <br /> and schools. <br /> Bill Habein and Gloria Felthous representing the Gloria Dei Lutheran <br /> Church addressed the Council. They statetl the Church would like the <br /> ordinance to remain as is due to the concem of alcohol consumption on <br /> Church property during fundraisers if a liquor store is allowed to be built <br /> next to the Church. <br /> Greg Larson store manager of Super Spirits and SuperAmerica addressed <br /> the Councii. Mr. Larson stated that eight years ago when they purchased <br /> the property and remodeled it they were assured by the City that there <br /> would not be another iiquor store allowed within 1,760 feet (1/3 mile) of <br /> their liquor store. Mr. Larson added if the ordinance is changed, they will <br /> lose business which will also effec#the surrounding establishments. <br /> Chris Quisberg of Supervalu addressed the Council. Mr. Quisberg stated <br /> the current liquor ordinance is very old school and needs to be updated to <br /> encourage new business in the City. <br /> Craig Schwartau from SuperAmerica Corporation addressed the Council. <br /> Mr. Schwartau encouraged the Council to keep the ordinance as is rather <br /> than make the changes proposed. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING CITY CODE SECTION 9.4 REGULATING <br /> AND LICENSING THE SALE AND CONSUMPTION OF MALT LIQUOR, <br /> 3.2% MALT LIQUOR AND INTOXICATING LIQUOR WITHIN THE CITY. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />
