Traffic Study <br /> Council Member Akerson stated due to several concems about closing a <br /> segment of Patriot Avenue for the Trailside Park Project he would like to <br /> request a formal traffic study be perFormed. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO AUTHORIZE WIDSETH <br /> SMITH NOLTING TO SOLICIT BIDS FOR THE REQUIRED TRAFFIC <br /> STUDIES AS TO THE IMPACT TO CURREI�tT AND FUTURE TRAFFIC <br /> PATTERNS DUE TO THE PROPOSED PROJECT AND DETERMINE <br /> WHICH INTERSECTIONS WOULD BE MOST BENEFICIAL, WITH <br /> ANALYSIS ON POTENTIAL IMPACTS AND SAFETY ISSUES. THESE <br /> STUDIES ARE TO OCCUR AT INTERVALS THAT W1LL BEST <br /> DETERMINE PATTERNS AND IMPACT. AT A MINIMUM, THE FIRST <br /> TRAFFIC STUDY SHOULD BE CONDUCTED IN MID-JULY TO MID- <br /> AUGUST, AND THE SECOND WOULD BE CONDUCTED 1N MID- <br /> NOVEMBER TO MID-DECEMBER. FURTHERMORE, IT IS <br /> RECOMMENDED WITH THlS MOTION THAT ANY AND ALL ACTIVITY <br /> RELATED TO THE PROPOSED PROJECT BE SUSPENDED <br /> INDEFINITELY UNTIL SUCH TIME THAT ALL QUESTIONS AND <br /> CONCERNS BY THE GENERAL PUBLIC GAN BE ADDRESSED. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> Council discussion ensued regarding increased traffic pattems, pedestrian <br /> safety, parking concems, and the impact of the removal of a segment of <br /> Patriot Avenue. <br /> ON A ROLL CALL VOTE: COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON —AYE; <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA—AYE; COUNCIL MEMBER <br /> PEDERSON — NAY; COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON — NAY; MAYOR <br /> ADAMS— NAY. MOTION FAILED 2-3. <br /> B. Update <br /> Tim Houle presented the updated map and draft project schedule for <br /> Trailside Park. Mr. Houle stated they will be proceeding with the Sibley <br /> Street and the Govemment Drive improvements after Labor Day 2018 with <br /> the Trailside Park improvement to follow in 2019. Mr. Houle explained the <br /> proposed changes to roads, additional parking, sidewalks, storm sewer, <br /> and overhead power to be moved underground where possible. <br />
