CHAPTER 7-GENERAL OFFENSES ARTICLE 1. THE ENFORCEMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFENSES AND ISSUANCE OF PENALTIES RELATED TO THESE OFFENSES Section 7-1.1. PURPOSE Administrative offense procedures established pursuant to t�Sections l_l,l -7e1.l U are intended to provide the public and the City of Pequot Lakes with an informal, cost effective, and expeditious alternative to traditional criminal charges for violations of certain City Code and Ordinance provisions. The procedures are intended to be voluntary on the part of those who have been charged with administrative offenses. At any time prior to payrnent of the administrative penalty as is provided for thereafter, the individual may withdraw from participation in the procedures, in which event the City may bring criminal charges or ituiiat�: d �;«ril Ic�al a�.tiu�� in accordance with law;i likewise, the City of Pequot Lakes in its discretion may choose not to initiate a� administrative�€e�s�enf�rcernent �e:;tiut_ls i- l,_l i-1,1 U and may bring criminal charges in the first instance. In the event a party participates in the administrative e�er�se procedures e�tablis�iecl il� S�ciic�i�s � 1.1___7-i,10 but does not pay the monetary penalty which may be imposed, the City of Pequot Lakes will seek to collect the costs of the administrative offense procedures as part of a subsequent criminal sentence in the event the party is charged and is adjudicated guilty of the criminal violation. Any minor traffic offense subject to an administrative fine set forth in Section 7-1.11 shall be governed by that section. Section 7-1.2. DEFINITIONS Except as may otherwise be provided or clearly implied by context, all terms shall be given their commonly accepted definitions. For purposes of this Chapter the following words and terms when used herein shall have the following meanings unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. 1. Administrative Offense.
