City Council Minutes <br />June 1, 2010 <br />Page 2 of 9 <br />-------------------- - - - - -- <br />COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br />CARRIED 5 -0. <br />4. Open Forum <br />There was no one present for open forum. <br />5. Presentations <br />5.1. Presentation by Sheriff Todd Dahl <br />Sheriff Todd Dahl addressed the Council with a general update on <br />County law enforcement. <br />5.2. Proclamation — Peguot Lakes as Chokecherry Capitol of Minnesota <br />Mayor Adams read the proclamation proclaiming Pequot Lakes as <br />the Chokecherry Capitol of Minnesota. <br />MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO PROCLAIM PEQUOT LAKES AS <br />�-- THE CHOKECHERRY CAPITOL OF MINNESOTA. COUNCIL <br />MEMBER MALECHA SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br />CARRIED 5 -0. <br />6. Planning and Zoning Report <br />6.1. Ordinance Amendment for Digital Signs <br />Chuck Marohn explained that the Planning Commission approved <br />an ordinance amendment pertaining to digital signs. He stated that <br />the Planning Commission has proposed an ordinance amendment <br />that prohibits all flashing, revolving, and intermittently lighted signs <br />including all digital displays. <br />Council Member Malecha questioned if there could be some <br />compromise toward a style of a lighted sign that businesses could <br />change once per month. She explained that it was difficult to <br />change letters at nights and during the colder evenings. Chuck <br />Marohn stated that the Planning Commission did take this into <br />consideration; however, they felt the look of the digital sign was not <br />what the community wanted. <br />
