OR
City Council Minutes
May 4, 2010
----------------------------- - - - - --
WaterMastewater monthly report received by Council.
9.1. Summer Water Usage Policy
Jack Schmidt has requested to speak to the Council regarding the Council
decision to eliminate the summer water usage policy effective January 1,
2010.
Jack Schmidt - Pequot Resident - addressed the Council and asked why
the Council eliminated the summer watering policy. He stated that the
policy has been in place for years. He stated that he was being penalized
for filling his swimming pool and washing his cars in the summer as the
water being used was not going into the sewer. The Council noted that
this policy was put into place in 2007 as a trial. The Council stated that the
reason for eliminating the policy was due to insufficient funds in the sewer
fund to replace and maintain existing equipment and infrastructure.
Lavonne Sullivan - Pequot Resident - stated that this policy was not in
effect when she moved to Pequot Lakes in 2002.
`.- Ken Eden from Northern Treasures in Pequot Lakes stated he has spent
thousands of dollars to beautify the corner of his property which he did
before he knew the policy would be eliminated. He inferred that the water
needed to keep the corner beautiful would be too expensive without the
policy.
The Mayor stated that the City would continue to review the situation.
9.2. Fund Balance Carryover for Lights in the Park
Mike Loven stated that the Park Commission is requesting that the Park
Fund cash balance of $4,526.55 be transferred to the General Fund and
designated as capital outlay carryover for the purpose of purchasing lights
in the Trailside Park.
MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO TRANSFER THE PARK FUND CASH
BALANCE OF $4,526.55 TO THE GENERAL FUND TO BE
DESIGNATED AS CAPITAL OUTLAY CARRYOVER FOR THE
PURPOSE OF PURCHASING LIGHTS IN THE TRAILSIDE PARK AND
ELIMINATE THE PARK FUND.
