PEQUOT LAKES PARK COMMISSION THURSDAY, MARCH 11, 2010 CITY HALL Members Present: Chair Tweed, Commissioners, Johnson, DenHartog and, Clement Members Absent: Commissioner Jurchen Also Present: Council Member Malecha; Sandy Peine, City Clerk; and Mayor Nancy Adams Call Meeting to Order The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chair Tweed 2. Approve Park Commission Minutes MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER JOHNSON TO APPROVE THE JANUARY 14, 2010; PARK COMMISSION MINUTES. COMMISSIONER CLEMENT SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4 -0. 3. Discussion on Gazebo The Clerk passed around pictures of the Pine River band shell. 4. Playground Equipment for Trailside Park The Clerk distributed a letter from the DNR supporting playground equipment in Trailside Park. Mayor Adams explained that during the Comp Plan update discussion took place regarding the need for a playground in the Trailside Park. Mayor Adams suggested that in order to determine the location, style and size of the playground in Trailside Park a committee should be formed. The Mayor suggested that the proceeds from the sale of Chokecherry Trees could be used to purchase the playground equipment. She also suggested asking businesses for donations and requesting the Chamber to contribute toward the cost. Discussion was held about the possibility of using a part of the Chamber property for the playground. The advantages of this would be that there are toilets available and there is a parking lot at the Chamber site. The Mayor suggested forming a committee to study the issue and to look `.. at the entire area from Woodman Street to Sibley Street listing the pros and cons from each.
