City Council Minutes
March 6, 201 S
Page2of8
-----------------------------
4. Open Forum
Kirk Larson, 5980 Wild Acres Road, Pequot Lakes, addressed the
Council. Mr. Larson spoke on behalf of the Pequot Lakes business
community. Mr. Larson noted that some business owners have stated
that they have not been adequately informed about the Trailside Park
Master Plan Project that is taking place in the City. They would like to
know what the proposed Project is and what the benefits are to the
business owners.
Mayor Adams stated that the Trailside Park Project has been on the
Council agenda since approximately 2015.
Council Member Pederson explained that there have been multiple open
meetings that have been held and publications in the newspaper.
Discussion ensued regarding the lack of communication, the cost of the
Project and how it will be paid for, the timeline, and the impact of this
Project on the business community.
Chris Monroe, Pequot Lakes Chamber Director, offered to facilitate
discussions to keep the business owners in the community informed about
what is going on in the City.
Michelle Lelwica from Snap Fitness and Hopkins Health and Wellness,
addressed the Council. Ms. Lelwica thanked the Council for their service
and asked for the top three objectives of the Trailside Park Project.
Mayor Adams stated the Project will bring people to the community,
increase visibility of the businesses, and be a focal point for the City.
A consensus of the Council agreed to ask Chris Monroe to facilitate a
meeting of the business owners and the Council to discuss the Trailside
Park Master Plan Project.
5.
