ABSENT: None.
CITY PLANNER: Justin Burslie, NJPA
ZOrTING SPECIALIST: Dawn Bittner
COUNCIL LIAISON: Jerry Akerson
The meeting was called to order by Chair Ha11an at 6:0o p.m.
COMPREHENSIVE PI.AN UPDATE: I
Mr. Burslie explained thCity Council has directed the Planning Commission to update i
the Comprehensive Plan. The Planning Commission will review 2 or 3 sections of the
existing Plan each month with the goal to hold the Public Hearing toward the end of the '
year. We have invited various community members and committee members to provide I
input. We have received written comments from the Economic Development ,
Commission and the Economy Task Force,as well as the City Administrator. Chair i
Hallan stated he would first take specific comments from the Planning Commission i
Members and then take comments by section. 'I
TRANSPORTATION SECTION: '
Planning Commission Member Birch stated he would like to see Complete Streets
adopted as part of the Transportation plan.
Planning Commission Member Leckband stated the terms `urban' and`rural'are used
throughout the Comprehensive Plan and felt they should be defined.
Mr. Burslie explained a Comprehensive Plan is a long range visioning document for the
City. A Comprehensive Plan is different than the Zoning Ordinance. It is not the letter
of the law but more of a policy document so there will not be definitions included. The
urban area would be defined as the central business district or the original City of
Pequot Lakes and the area outside of that would be the rural area.
Intent—no comments.
MINUTES 1
Pequot Lakes Planning Commission
March 15, 2oi8
