City Council Minutes April 6, 2010 Page 7 of 10 -------------------- - - - - -- MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO REVISIT THIS ISSUE IN ONE YEAR FROM NOW. COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA SECONDED THE MOTION. Council Member Malecha stated that the Chief's suggestion of creating guidelines for the position is a good idea. Council Member Sjoblad indicated that he would like to see a job description for the position of sergeant. He further suggested that a committee review the description and job duties and be involved in the selection process. Council Member Ryan stated that he is less inclined to have a committee make the hiring decision and stated that the Chief should make the decision. He further stated he would like to look at the entire department structure and process. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. 8.3. Letter to Council The Council acknowledged receipt of a letter addressed to all Council members and the Chief of Police. Chief Braam spoke about the report he distributed regarding the recertification of the Police Dog Shadow and Officer Gartner. Chief Braam commended Officer Gartner for ranking high in the competition. 9. Public Works WaterANastewater monthly report received by Council. 9.1. Re- designation of Capital Outlay Funds for 2009 Mike Loven requested the Council to re- designate Capital Outlay Funds in the amount of $16,330 from the 2009 Capital Outlay Budget to the Capital Outlay Carryover budget. He requested to designate the money for City Hall sidewalk improvements or Cole Memorial building roof and gutter replacement. COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA MOVED TO RE- DESIGNATE $16,330 FROM THE 2009 CAPITAL OUTLAY BUDGET TO THE CAPITAL OUTLAY CARRYOVER BUDGET TO BE USED FOR CITY HALL SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS OR COLE MEMORIAL BUILDING ROOF AND GUTTER REPLACEMENT. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. \%_.
