PEQUOT LAKES AREA FIRE BOARD <br /> MEETING MINUTES 1ANUARY 31,2018 <br /> The quarterly meeting of the PLAFB was called to order by Chairman Peterson.The minutes of the <br /> last meeting were not read due to a motion by Adams,second by Benson,motion passed. <br /> The faurth quarter fire call report was revie�red.There were 18 cails during the quarter. By types, <br /> there were 7 structure ftres,3 medical assists 2 gas leafcs,2 good intent cal�s,1 brush fire, 1 fire <br /> alarm, l electrical transformer fire,and 1 motor vehicle accident with extrication needed. By <br /> location,there were 7 to the City of Breery Point,6 to Pequot lakes,2 to City of Jenkins,l to Pelican <br /> Township,l to Loon Lake Township,and 1 to Poplar Township.There were 7 bilk sent that totaied <br /> $2750.�. <br /> The training report for the quarter totaled 25 hours.There were 8 hours of a live house burn,3 <br /> hours of chimney/attic fire policies and procedures,3 hours auto extrication,3 hours critical <br /> incident stress management,3 hours of a safety inspection waltc thru at Peq�ot Tool,3 hours SCBA <br /> operation in difficult areas,and 2 hours fire preven�ion training at Eagle V'iew EP,e�mentary Schoal. <br /> Benson commented he was at a township meeting in Rochester and was informed Pequot lakes <br /> Fire Department did not use all the State funds available to us for fire training.Chief Nelson <br /> answered he was not aware of the excess funds avaiiable. <br /> The financial report was discussed.Training schools was listed as over budget but the Department is <br /> reimbursed by the State to offset the overage.Insurance costs were 20 9�less than budgeted. <br /> Capital outlay was over due to non-budgeted equipment purchased. Inner-fund transfers was far <br /> the first payment for the air pack loan.Sodd motioned to approve tEie re�ort,second by Lillehei, <br /> motion passed. <br /> The fourth quarter fire personnet&operations report was reviewed. <br /> Our 2017 AFG grant application will be submitted before the February 2"°'deadline.We are asking <br /> for funding for a new tanker tructc valued at approximate[y$275,0OO.OQ. <br /> New fire fighters hired during the quarter were Lilly Pearo,Nate Schwankl,Josh Cameron,and Even <br /> Hayes. <br /> Fire Fighter I classes are in pragress for Rew fire fighters.Fire F�ghter II classes wiEt faflow. <br /> Our fire department holiday party was held January 19�'at the Ameriran Legion Club.Tom Nelson <br /> was awarded fire fighter of the year and Bob Peterson wras recagnized for attending the most fire <br /> calls for 2017. <br /> The Department is planning to purchase a new side by side to carry our new brush and grass skid <br /> unit we purchased this past year uvith help from a DNR grant.The skid unit was originally installed <br /> on the Polaris Ranger that belongs to the Breery Point Pofice Department and is used mainly for <br /> rescue.The Ranger was not able t�fiandte the weight of t6�e s[cid unit and the trai�r far i�was not <br /> able to carry the weight. Pelican Lakes Conservation Club donated$15,000.00 to help purchase the <br /> vehicle and trailer. <br />
