Clerk's February 2009 Staff Report <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />• Authorized a letter of support to MnDOT for the closure of the access at First <br />Street and CSAH 11 <br />• Adopted Ordinance Amending Chapter 17 relating to pre- existing lots of records <br />and other minor ordinance amendments <br />• Adopted ordinance amendment to Chapter 17 relating to parking requirements <br />• Transferred wages and benefits from the general fund to the water and sewer <br />funds <br />• Forgave sewer charges for Earl Hemmerich <br />• Approved a service contract with Kitchigami Regional Library system <br />• Appointed Laura Hofius to the HRA <br />• Directed staff to form a health insurance committee to research other insurance <br />plans <br />Meetings <br />Park Commission <br />The Park Commission met on January 14th and February 11th. The commission heard a <br />presentation from Chuck Marohn on the Comp Plan. The Park Commission gave some <br />input on park and recreation needs for the City. <br />The Bands in the Park program continues to expand. This year bands have been <br />scheduled for almost every week throughout the summer. See the attached flyer. <br />Other projects the Commission will be working on this summer <br />• Enlarging or rebuilding the gazebo at Trailside Park to allow it to be used as a <br />band shelter <br />• Completion of Gildner Park with playground equipment <br />• Consideration of playground equipment at Trailside Park <br />Economic Development Commission <br />January 19th Meeting.... <br />• The EDC discussed the possibility of establishing a business loan program <br />• Reviewed the SWOT Process <br />• Received an update on the economic development section of the comp plan <br />February 16th Meeting ... (No quorum — no formal action taken) <br />• Heard a presentation from Matt Rowe of True Protection Security (Now known as <br />Vovi) <br />• <br />Update and consensus of the SWOT process. The EDC will make a formal <br />recommendation at its March meeting. At this point the EDC is recommending to <br />not to do a SWOT but to coordinate efforts with the Planning Commission while <br />working on the economic development section of the comp plan. <br />
