Special City Council Minutes <br /> January 16, 2018 <br /> Page 2 of 8 <br /> ----------------------------- <br /> Nancy Malecha presented the project priorities for the City <br /> Council. <br /> • New Maintenance Facility/Salt Shed. <br /> • Trailside Park Project— Phase 1. <br /> • North Government Drive Improvements. <br /> • Downtown SE Street Quadrant/Rasmussen Road. <br /> • Projects from Capital Improvement Plan to include vehicles, <br /> equipment and overlay road projects. <br /> B. Economic Development Commission <br /> � <br /> Mark Jurchen and Cindy Rieck presented the project priorities ' <br /> for the EDC. <br /> • Broadband/fiber optic needs assessment for the business � <br /> sector. �, <br /> • Review and update economic development section of the � <br /> City's Comprehensive Plan. <br /> • Develop schematic designs and marketing strategies for <br /> potential development south of the Pequot Lakes Business '� <br /> Park. ' <br /> Mr. Jurchen stated that one of the biggest components right I� <br /> now is the lack of affordable housing in the community. He <br /> added that a joint effort befinreen the Economic Development <br /> Commission, Planning Commission, and the Housing and <br /> Redevelopment Authority is needed to come up with a solution <br /> for affordable housing. <br /> C. HRA Commission <br /> Barb Carlson and Robert Ritter presented the project priorities <br /> for the HRA Commission. <br /> • Replace hall lighting with LED. <br /> • Capital needs assessment for long term planning. <br /> • Seal coat and stripe parking lots. <br /> • Upgrade camera systems. <br /> • Paint and re-carpet units and hallways. <br /> • Replace water heaters. <br /> Ms. Carlson added that all of these items will need approval ' <br /> from the HRA Commission in March. <br />
